Bader Prize

Six years ago, we could award the first Bader Prize to a young and promising art historian thanks to a gift from Dr Alfred Bader. It has been awarded twice, to Ed Wouk and to Ruben Suykerbuyk, who published their winning papers in Simiolus volumes 36 and 37.

We would now like to announce the last and final opportunity to submit a manuscript to compete for this award, which consists of €  1,000 for the best original contribution on European art prior to 1950 written by an art historian younger than 35 at the time of submission.

Entries for the prize, with a maximum length of 20,000 words (including notes), should be submitted before 1 October 2018 and may be written in English, Dutch, French or German. The editors, who form the jury, will bear the costs of translation if necessary, and publish the article in Simiolus within a year.
