We are interested in all original contributions on Western art history prior to 1950, with a particular focus on art history of the Low Countries. Contributions may range between 5,000 and (maximum) 10,000 words, excluding footnotes. Authors should also submit a short abstract of c. 250 words.
If a paper is accepted for publication, we offer to pay for the cost of translation into English of manuscripts submitted in Dutch, German or French.
Style guide
This style guide is intended primarily for authors writing in English, and for Simiolus translators. Authors submitting articles in other languages are asked to observe the Simiolus conventions as regards references in the notes. All authors are requested to take particular note of the specifications for digital photographs.
